Admission Guide 2023 for English-taught Undergraduate Programs
I. ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS
Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) is committed to creating a supportive learning and living environment for all international students. Currently, there are four English-taught undergraduate programs for international students, including International Economics & Trade, Artificial Intelligence, Textile Engineering, and Medicinal Chemistry.

II. ABOUT SHANGHAI UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING SCIENCE
The Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) is highly recognized as a public university specializing in applied technologies and engineering sciences in China.
Spread over three campuses covering near 1,000,000m2, SUES now consists of 17 academic schools, and houses almost 2,000 faculty and staff members, 18,000 undergraduates, and 4,000 graduates. Incorporating the profound academic profile and the fine tradition of University-Industry collaboration, SUES has been dedicated to enabling students to be competitive in academia as well as in the practical industrial world for decades.
Among the first universities approved by the Ministry of Education of China to admit international students, SUES has been enrolling international students since 1985. As a university accepting international students on Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship, the College of International Education (CIE) serves over 4,000 international students from over 100 countries and regions, including Germany, US, Japan, Russia, Italy, Australia, Mexico, Ukraine, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Congo, Ghana, etc.

Machine Learning, Collective Intelligence, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality, etc.
Textile Engineering
Department: School of Textiles and Fashion
Main Courses:
Spinning Technology, Woven Technology, Fabric Structure and Design, Design of Woven Products, Design of Knitted Products, Imports and Exports of Textiles & Apparel, Functional Finish of Textiles, Technical Textiles, etc.
Medicinal Chemistry
Department: School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
Main Courses:
Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, Organic Reaction for Drug Synthesis, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, etc.
IV. LENGTH AND START TIME
Undergraduate programs: 4 years
Graduate programs: 2 to 3 years
Start time：September 2023
V. FEES
Tuition (per academic year): CNY 20,000
Insurance (per academic year): CNY 800
Dorms (per academic year): CNY 1,200（four-bed room）
The tuition payment and refunding process shall follow the university policy.
VI. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Non-Chinese citizen.
2. Aged from 18-25. （Those who are between 16 and 18 should submit Guardian’s Guarantee Statement.）
3. Senior high school diploma (or above).
4. In good health.
5. Good command of English. （Proof of English proficiency required, or passing English test by SUES）
Applicants of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have immigrated to other countries, or non-Chinese with Chinese citizen parent(s) settled abroad, should meet the conditions set by the Document No. 12(2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC.
VII. APPLICATION MATERIALS
●Senior high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma, and full transcripts
The documents must be in English or Chinese with official stamps of the high school or authorized institute. Notarized translated copies must be submitted if the document is not in Chinese or English.
If you apply before the completion of high school, an official letter issued by the institute indicating the time when you will receive the diploma is required. Copy of diploma and final version of the transcripts are still required once you receive them.
●Proof of English proficiency
An applicant who is an English native speaker, or receives a high school diploma from an English-speaking country, may be exempt from this requirement.
The applicant must pass the online entrance examination organized by CIE. The language examination can be waived if an IELTS band score no less than 5.5, or TOEFL(ibt) score no less than 60, is submitted. The remote interview is still required for all applicants.

If the passport has been extended, a passport extension page should be included. If you are not in your home country during the application, your current valid visa in that country is also required.

Note: The applicant should hold responsible for authenticity of all materials provided.
VIII. SCHOLARSHIPS
SUES provides scholarships for excellent applicants, including the SUES Scholarship for international students.
Students applying for SUES Scholarship please apply via http://admission.sues.edu.cn/.
Coverage and Details
The SUES Scholarship covers tuition (or part of tuition) and comprehensive insurance, while annual assessment is required.
Requirements
1. Meeting program application eligibility.
2. Providing satisfying academic and comprehensive performance.
3. Meeting entry requirements of university and program.
4. An applicant who has received any other scholarships offered by the Chinese government or other organizations is not entitled to apply for the above scholarship.
5. Annual assessment is required to maintain scholarship.
IX. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Step 1: OnlineApplication
Please register and submit your application (including all the required documents) via SUES International Students Service System http://admission.sues.edu.cn/.
Step 2: Entrance Exam
According to the admission requirements of each program, there will be an entrance examination (online language test and remote interview). Please pay attention to further email notice for the time and media.
Step 3: Follow the Status
You can check the application status on the International Students Service System. Please pay attention to emails.
Step 4: Admission and Enrollment
The application result will be released on the International Students Service System. The admission letters are to be issued no later than July 2023. Students need to complete registration in strict accordance with the time specified in the admission letter. The original high school diploma and transcripts will be checked during registration. Those who fail to obtain the diploma or submit unauthentic documentswill be disqualified for enrollment.
